BOWERS, WILLIAMS & EARNEST NAMED TO 2009 JUNIOR TEAM USA

The Greater Iowa Scholarship Bowling Tour congratulates 2-time GISBT champion Brent Bowers for being named to the 2009 Junior Team USA squad. Bowers was the 2nd round leader at his year’s Junior Gold Bowling Championship Tournament in Detroit, Michigan, and went on to finish 6th in a field of 1,020 boys.

Congratulations also go out to past GISBT members Ricki Williams and Jessica Earnest; both were named to 2009 Junior Team USA. Williams, from Wichita, Kansas, is a former runner-up on tour who is appearing on her 2^nd consecutive Junior Team USA roster, while Earnest, from Vandalia, Illinois, is the younger sister of 3-time Junior Team USA member Josie Earnest. Williams finished 3^rd at this year’s event, while Earnest finished 8^th. Williams is appearing on her 2^nd consecutive Junior Team USA, while Earnest is a Junior Team USA rookie.

This trio joins an impressive roster of 23 past GISBT members who have bowled their way onto Junior Team USA. These 23 players hail from 13 different states!

The GISBT would also like to send their congratulations to all the nearly 90 past and present GISBT members who competed at this year’s event in Detroit! Special recognition goes out to the following 11 girls and 23 boys who advanced to the semi-finals. Advancing to the semi-finals at each year’s event represents the toughest cut to make in all of junior bowling. Again this year, the GISBT enjoyed a solid showing by having 34 of the 162 semi-finalists (57 girls and 105 boys) – more than 20% of the semi-finalists were GISBT members. These semi-finalists represented 8 different states.
